A prefabricated substation moves part of the integration work from the construction site into a manufacturing environment. Buyers should evaluate the complete package rather than treating an enclosure containing separate components as a finished system.
Define What Prefabrication Includes
Ask the bidder to identify equipment assembled, wired, and checked before dispatch, together with the work remaining on site. The surrounding enclosure can affect how the equipment is installed and operated, so these interfaces belong in the package specification.
Resolve Factory and Site Boundaries
Define incoming and outgoing cable interfaces, earthing connections, auxiliary power, and communications.
Identify connections completed at the factory and those assigned to the site contractor.
Specify reassembly documentation and verification requirements for split shipments.
Coordinate transport dimensions, weights, handling instructions, foundation loads, and the final access route.
Review these details before foundations or transport arrangements are committed. A factory-complete assembly still needs a practical route to its installed position. Keep lifting and installation planning with qualified specialists using the approved equipment information.
Buy Evidence for the Complete Package
Agree factory acceptance scope, component records, integration checks, installation instructions, and site commissioning requirements. Distinguish tests that concern individual equipment from those that address the assembled package. Assign an owner to every remaining interface in the handover schedule.
Also confirm how major components can be accessed or replaced and what future expansion would require.
